So here goes....
Genesis 1-4
There are so many ideas expressed in this passage that it is hard to focus on just one…but I am committed to one brief idea per day, so that I do not make myself crazy.
Idea: Through out Genesis One, God constantly looks back at his own work and pronounces is good. He didn’t casually create the world…at the end of each creation day, he looks back over his own work and he calls it “good.” He places his stamp of approval over each day and then moves onto the next one.
For some reason this reminds me of those good “Inspected by:_________” stickers that appear on the inside of practically every manufactured product. My favorites are the ones that simple feature an individual’s name. My kitchen cupboard was approved by “Connie.” I am glad that Connie approves!
The difference is in the fact that God wasn’t checking himself. He already knew that his work was perfect, but he declared it good for all of eternity to hear. What he made was good.
The goal of human existence…hopefully the goal of my existence is to hear my works pronounced “Good” by God. My goal needs to be his stamp of approval on each and everyday before I continue on to my next day.
This means taking life seriously…intentionally. It means taking the time to “Create” very cautiously…and looking for God’s approval before moving on to the next task.
See you on the flip side.
