New Year's Resolutions...and Golfish

New years resolutions are on of those things that come…and go every year.

They kind of remind me of goldfish.

Seriously, in my life there have been many goldfish. I love them. I think that they are delightful, so I have personally owned more than a dozen goldfish. Unfortunately, I have also killed more than a dozen goldfish as well. Every time it has been the same basic story…I buy a fish and become immediate friends with him. I bring him to my room, place him in his bowl and am certain that my life has been enhanced by my new friend…but the story always seems to end badly. A moment will come when I find my unfortunate fish floating on the top of the water (or sitting outside of the tank after an apparent suicide…let’s not go there.)

After more than a dozen aquatic casualties one would think that I had learned my lesson…nope, I am sitting next to one death-bound animal as I write.

For me, New Year’s resolutions have had the same survival rate as my fish—zero.

This year, my failure destined resolution is to post something about something that I read in the Bible here on this blog everyday. The reason behind this goal lies in a few reasons…number one, I am a radically distractible and ADD personality. I tend to get lost in the midst of pretty much everything that I do (apologies to my roommate for the million conversations that I have walked out of!) This blog will force me to pay attention so that there will be something real to post here everyday. Number two, I am a communications major…I need practice at communicating the things that I learn.

I have no expectation that anyone will actually read this blog…It is really is ok if the number of views counter at the bottom of my page comes out at zero. This is just a chance for me to grow in my attention to God’s word and in my ability to communicate it in an understandable way.
